A Perfect Time to Make a Change for The Better
The New Year is celebrated around the world with excitement, enthusiasm and joy. It marks the ending of the year and the beginning of another as per the Gregorian calendar. This is an important day for people who wish to enter this new year with new resolutions, hope and light. New year’s is not celebrated at the same time around the world but rather it depends on the timeline of a country.
This New Year was completely different from the past 2-3 years because
before was a lot harder to celebrate it due to the spreading COVID-19 virus. So
this year, I know a lot of us was very excited. We celebrated freely and
carefully.
Most countries celebrate the new year on
December 31st after 12 am i.e on 1st January. The new year is also celebrated in
India on 1st January, but according to the Hindu
scriptures, the new year falls between march – April. Every religion has its
own calendar, but most of the country celebrate the new year according to the
English calendar. Chinese celebrate the new year in February. On 1st January at 12 a.m., people do fireworks and
congrats each other.
My family celebrates New Year’s on January 1st exactly at 12 a.m. but before that our neighborhood get together to have some fun and play. Each household must bring a dish to serve and to share to others. The morning of December 31st we shall start preparing for the food we will eat on the midnight and the food we will bring. The men in the whole neighborhood will gather together to cook the “lechon baboy” and a this is a whole roasted pig stuffed with lemongrass, tamarind, garlic, onions, and chives, and is then roasted on a large bamboo spit over an open fire. Then at 8 p.m. we started the program or should I say feast. After eating, we played a lot of games and raffles was held and it was lot of fun.
Then, when it was nearly 12 a.m. we got back to our house. 2 minutes before its 12, I got outside our house and I heard a loud BANG!. I ran to the road and look up in the sky. Fireworks popping in front of my eyes and the big fireworks show is always by our mayor, it was beautiful. Then 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, I counted down together with my neighbors, HAPPY NEW YEAR!, I shouted loudly and started jumping around. I hugged my love ones with a smile and a happy sounding voice.
